A Santa Barbara story from 1965 -- click here *************************************************************************************************** ![]() We had a classmate who became a famous movie star and producer, although we didn't know him. MICHAEL DOUGLAS!!! Funny picture, because he is made up to look old, so it looks much like he actually looks now. (from page 46 of the 1968 La Cumbre yearbook) ************************************************************************************************************************** After over 40 years, we decided to get back together to reminisce and have some fun... at the Wharfmaster's house in Point Arena, California October 15-16, 2008 ![]() ************************************************************************************************************************** Christopher Kyte's memories and some recent photos of his family I remember living at Dos Pueblos Freshman year. I ended up in a room by myself, smoking cheap cigars and trying to drink all the stale beer from our keg parties. I remember the friend who taught me how to drive stick shift and the drunk who roared down our street and crashed into a light pole after hitting several cars. I remember Adam Lewis who roomed with me at the beginning of Sophomore year and had to drop out because he got Mono, or some disease. I remember TwoFer Tuesdays in Isla Vista and playing pool at the pool hall. I remember buying a gallon of Red Mountain wine and a large bottle of Squirt and spending the morning at the beach. I remember the surfer with epilepsy who had a seizure and died. I remember teaching Bob’s step dad, Henry, how to body surf in Santa Barbara. I remember riding motorcycles with Jeffrey and Johnny the WOP and poor Johnny had to hold up his bike with me looming on the back. I remember that someone stole my ten speed and I went all over Isla Vista until I found it and cut off the lock and took it back. I remember taking Chemistry in an evening class and the teacher had large pendulous breasts and spoke in a quiet monotone that was guaranteed to put anyone to sleep. I remember the little Chinese restaurant in Santa Barbara that had really cheap hamburgers and the Dutch Lunch at the bar in Isla Vista. The bartender swore he lost money on each plate and only made up the difference in the volume. I remember being able to buy a case of bottled beer for $4.29 and you could make half of that back by bringing back the bottles. I think it was Dodger Lager beer. I remember the electric beer signs we had in our apartment, including the Hamms one with the rippling waterfall. I could go on for weeks, but I’ll stop for now.
